HOOD VIBES: LATEX FASHION AND PLAY STYLES FROM LIBIDEX

If you haven’t yet discovered the joys of latex hoods, you’re surely missing out on one of the most versatile items it’s possible to have in a latex wardrobe! Read on to find out just what it is about hood vibes that appeals to so many latex fans — and how Libidex’s big range of latex fashion and play hoods for women and men can help you to fully enjoy those vibes yourself!

Hood design has progressed massively since the days when, like early Ford cars, latex hoods came in any colour as long as it was black. We’re also well past the times when such hoods were assumed to be of limited interest beyond the fantasies of rubber fetishists craving total latex enclosure.

To be fair, that aspect of latex hood-wearing is still very popular. But now it can be achieved with so many different styles and colours of hood, because the ‘fashion sensibility’ that has revolutionised the general design of latex clothing design has impacted hood design too.

Libidex can rightly claim to be one of the pioneers of the kind of decorative latex hoods that might be commonly regarded these days as the finishing visual touch to a latex outfit worn for a night of clubbing. However, over the years the company has not only continually expanded its decorative or ‘fashion’ hood range, but has also added an impressive collection of styles that are intended more specifically for various types of rubber-related play. Whatever kind of hood vibes you’re looking for: we have a hood for you!

In much the same way that all apples are fruit but not all fruit are apples, any decorative Libidex latex hood could be worn for a play scenario — whichever side you play for. But the dedicated play styles are designed for specific interests that are more likely to be private one-on-one situations than group outings to a Torture Garden night.

Where necessary, Libidex play styles come with safety warnings on their individual website pages. These alert customers to the precautions they should take and the things they should definitely not do when wearing a hood with ‘restrictive features’. More on this further down.

The current Libidex hood range consists of 80 styles for men and 100 styles for women. Because of head-sizing differences, Libidex hoods are not generally unisex in the sense of ‘one size fits all’ — even though latex is obviously stretchy! The men’s hoods are tailored to typical male head dimensions and the women’s to typical female heads, which is the only way to get the kind of close fit most wearers are looking for.

However, a substantial number of our designs are available in both male and female versions, which will be found on the Libidex website in the options listed in the individual product descriptions, and also in the separate male and female hood sections. In the images here, we have grouped together selections of female and male hood styles that cater for the various kinds of hood vibes that might interest you.

Women’s Latex Hoods: Libidex Best-Sellers at 10% off!

In our selection of hood images, we have looked first at women’s hoods, starting with all the women’s hoods that are currently Libidex best-sellers. These are listed on the website with a 10% discount off their standard prices, and the prices shown for them in this article include that discount. We follow these best-sellers with examples of some other, non-discounted styles that may interest you. The same rule applies In the men’s image sets, with discounted best-sellers shown first, followed by some full-priced alternatives.

Let’s now take the plunge into some of the many ways a Libidex latex hood can enhance your rubbery fun and create those great hood vibes. As mentioned above, a decorative hood style might be worn for no other purpose than to co-ordinate or contrast with your main latex outfit. Fetish imagery might lead you to suppose that latex hoods are most naturally teamed with latex catsuits. But while that is a very popular look (and incidentally Libidex will attach all hoods to catsuits if that’s what your heart desires), these days you’ll see plenty of partygoers wearing latex hoods with dresses, leotards, jackets… the choice is yours.

People who wear hoods for their visual impact in a ‘public’ setting may also be getting more out of this than at first appears. Some folk definitely also want the ‘head trip’ that they get from being inside a well-fitting latex hood. And some of them definitely enjoy the anonymity a hood provides too — whether it’s to protect against being identified at a pervy event, or just to mess with the heads of friends they might greet warmly, knowing there’s a reasonable chance that the friend won’t be sure who they’re talking to.

As noted above, any decorative style might also be worn in a play setting, by either partner. A dominant may wear a hood to heighten the submissive’s fantasy that they are undergoing an experience inflicted by a stranger or perhaps even an alien or android capable of beyond-human cruelty. A submissive may be required to wear a hood to enhance their sense of being deprived of identity and worthy only of punishment, not compassion.

As you can see from our best sellers selections for both genders here, typical decorative or ‘fashion’ hoods — such as the Trinity, Sakura and Big Eye styles for women and the Male Full Face and Neo for men — have eye holes, nose holes and mouth holes, though endless variations in those features are possible. The standard closing method for these hoods is a back zip, which, as it is closed, tightens the hood pleasingly (but not excessively) around the contours of the head. Achieving the desired closeness of fit is an important element in creating the right hood vibes for each individual wearer.

Variations on this standard style include a zipless pull-on hood, and a backlaced style that enables the tightness of the hood to be varied according to the preference of the wearer — or whoever is lacing them into it!

Among the variations to the more or less standard style that you can find in the women’s and men’s best-sellers are hoods with attached single or double ponytails or streamers. Women’s best-sellers also include a Harness model combining a cowl-type hood with an attached shoulder harness, and an open-face design for fans of wetsuit style.

Following our sets of women’s best-selling hood photos, we’ve included a selection of three more women’s decorative styles at standard prices: the Ashleigh, Miss Kitty and Paramedic — the latter a standard hood with added detachable medic-style face mask (which incidentally looks fabulous teamed with our Paramedic catsuit!). These are followed by a selection of six women’s designs definitely leaning towards the ‘bizarre’/‘gummi’ end of the scale, and proof that Libidex also embraces rubbery interests that are well beyond fashion.

In the first set of these ‘beyond fashion’ styles we show the Female Euphoric, created for experienced breath players with its nose and mouth tubes; the Evern featuring heavy duty detachable face mask with pinpoint breathing holes; and the Azalea Vagina hood, which has an inflatable head with separately inflatable lips and an optional mouth sheath.

The second set starts with the Goldie hood, featuring a pepperpot mouth behind a sturdy rubber trough ‘perfect for collecting liquid in’. What can this mean?! The Sister Ada, meanwhile, is based on the Trinity hood with the addition of a wimple and an optional mouth sheath; while the Jessa Headbag is a loose-fit hood with front zip and detachable press-stud eye panels.

All six of the styles just described carry Libidex’s website safety warnings about ‘items with restricted features’ that should be ‘worn with extreme care’. The warnings state that a trusted partner should always be on hand to take remedial actions if required, and you should stop use immediately if you experience any adverse effects.

Crucially, the safety notice asserts that the item must not be used ‘while under the influence’, and that, in hoods including sheaths, the sheath is not a substitute for an actual medical-quality condom. These are all things that any intelligent person should realise, of course, but it’s nevertheless important that people seeking more extreme hood vibes are reminded!

In the men’s best-sellers category, decorative designs include, in our first picture set, the Male Full Face (shown in two colours) and the Fly, which adds disguising pepperpot eye panels to the full face style. The second set of male best-sellers shows, in red, the Neo, which features a fully shaped nose; the Pull On Basic which, as the name suggests, is constructed without a back zip; and the Male Ponytail hood.

Our featured men’s best-sellers also include play styles such as the Oblivion hood which comes with detachable blindfold and mouth cover, the Johnny, with a mouth opening accommodating a latex sheath, and the Sheath, a style popular with total enclosure fans. In most cases there are substantial choices of single colours and colour combinations you can order. Note that both the Oblivion and Johnny come with those website warnings about hoods with ‘restricted features’.

Our final two sets of pictures show a few of the many other men’s styles available at non-discounted prices. The decorative set above features the wrestler-inspired Lucha; the Full Face Lace Back which has lacing instead of a back zip; and the Mr Kitty Full Face, which you’ll notice has different features from the Miss Kitty.

The last set of photos below takes a final dip into the more bizarre side of male hooding, with Swine Mask and Hound styles for those wanting to unleash their inner beast, and the Oyster, which adds an extra outer layer of heavy gauge latex to a standard Neo hood to provide the kind of double blinding that some people just really crave. Unsurprisingly, this one also comes with a safety warning.

So there you have it. Hoods are a world of fun just waiting to be explored. But if you gravitate towards the more extreme styles, just remember: if your pursuit of hood vibes inclines you to play hard, make sure you play safe as well!
