The good news is that the last few weeks of unpredictable weather in the UK and elsewhere does not seemed to have dampened the desire of models, musicians, actresses and the like to be seen on TV, at awards ceremonies or on concert stages in summer latex looks from a range of designers.
Among celebs opting for the shiny stuff recently we found Love Island host Maya Jama, Dancing With The Stars/Australia dancer/judge Sharna Burgess, singer-songwriters Halle Bailey and Tallia Storm, model/YouTuber Marie B, model/TV personality Christine McGuinness and singer/rapper Doja Cat. Latex designers worn by them ranged from Anoeses, Atsuko Kudo and Avellano to Elissa Poppy, Latex Couture and Poster Girl.

First in our round-up of summer latex looks recently spotted on celebrities is the Poster Girl Roast Latex Dress in red, shown top and above left, which was worn on ITV2’s Love Island show on July 3 by show host Maya Jama.
Poster Girl is a newish London brand specialising in bodycon clothing including latex. Its designs are finding increasing favour among female artistes such as Megan Thee Stallion, Kylie Jenner, Beyoncé and Dua Lipa. A notable feature of this midi dress is its flame-detailed bra top with front ruching.
A few days later, on the opposite side of the world, Australian ballroom dancer Sharna Burgess made her return to ABC’s Dancing With The Stars wearing a stunning royal blue Lady P catsuit by the UK’s Atsuko Kudo, with matching opera-length gloves (above right).
Summer latex looks at the BET Awards: Halle Bailey (left) in Avellano latex backless gown in snakeskin effect, and (right) Tallia Storm in Latex Couture ankle-length gown
Boarding our time machine again to head back into June in search of more summer latex looks, we found two rubber-lovin’ chanteuses who chose different styles of gown for their respective appearances at the BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30.
American singer-songwriter-actress Halle Bailey — also known as one half of sibling duo Chloe x Halle — appeared at the event in a floor-skimming Latex Backless Gown in snakeskin effect by French label Avellano (above left) — a look co-styled by celebrity stylist Nichole Goodman.
Meanwhile, British R&B singer-songwriter Tallia Storm sported an ankle length gown (above right) by Latex Couture, the British label that very recently announced its closure. (Shame, but as a consequence, there may be some discounted garments available.)
Marie B in a still from her YouTube video showing her modelling this red latex Casey Mini Dress from Ukrainian label Anoeses
June 24 saw latex loving influencer Marie B (above) devoting her YouTube channel to trying on a red latex Casey Mini Dress from Ukrainian label Anoeses. The simple sleeveless turtleneck style is typical of the clean lines and attention to fit from this newish Kyiv-based brand, which makes power play items, leather clothing, bodywear and lingerie as well as latex garments — all of it beautifully photographed on its website.
Our final coupling in this selection finds UK model and TV personality Christine McGuinness paired with US singer/rap artist Doja Cat. McGuinness (below left) was spotted on June 21 at the British LGBT Awards in a figure-hugging silver latex mini dress by UK designer Elissa Poppy — a graduate of De Montfort University’s famous Contour Fashion course for foundation garment design.
Just a week earlier, Doja Cat (below right) had brought her Scarlet Tour to London’s O2. But in terms of colour, it was more the golds than the reds that caught the eye of latex enthusiasts. Doja wore a floor-length coat in translucent natural latex from Avellano’s SS24 collection, over a custom natural latex Bodysuit and gold tights. And that — if you’ll forgive the pun — just about raps it up for this week’s focus on summer latex looks!
