Power & Pose is a brand new latex collection just launched by Libidex — designed for women everywhere who want to embrace latex power dressing, or want to embrace it to an even greater degree!

As the name suggests, this new collection, comprising more than 150 new styles, is not for the faint-hearted, offering as it does everything from no-nonsense, full-coverage garments that would sit very well in any domina’s wardrobe to the skimpiest creations likely to be favoured by those of a more submissive inclination. As if that were not on its own enough good news, the entire Power & Pose Collection is currently available at 20 percent off standard prices (the prices that will apply after the launch period). So in this article, we’re going to look at a selection of designs representing the main garment categories covered by the new Collection.

First, however, let’s have a quick recap on the origins of power dressing. Although the concept (if not the term) has long been associated with BDSM roleplay, the phrase itself came into mainstream usage in the mid-to-late 1970s to describe ‘masculinised’ fashions intended to help women to assert their authority in the male-dominated business world.

It was primarily two French designers — Claude Montana and Thierry Mugler — who took the concept forward into the 1980s, popularising the massive shoulder pads and tight skirts that came to define that decade as the era of power dressing. Since then, elements of the concept have been revisited often by mainstream fashion, but with the look’s indebtedness to fetish/BDSM style increasingly acknowledged, as kink itself has grown in acceptance.

Today, the prevalence of celebrities wearing latex confirms the power of the fabric to command attention, almost regardless of what garments it is fashioned into. Just wearing latex can be enough to imbue one with the sense that one is latex power dressing. But for many others, the potential of imaginatively designed latex fashions to further ramp up the particular power narrative we personally embrace will be of much greater interest. There are skirts in all lengths, with daring cut-outs, D-rings and embellishments galore.
