Latex Legwear: Walk on the wild side with Libidex!

LATEX LEGWEAR: WALK ON THE WILD SIDE WITH LIBIDEX!

When the Libidex clothing brand was launched in London in 1989, one of the innovations of its founder, designer Helen Saffery, was her use, for latex legwear such as tights and stockings, of a thinner gauge of latex than generally considered viable for that purpose by other latex designers.

Her rationale was that this thinner latex was not as fragile as other latex-makers believed. She realised that the remarkable elasticity of the thinner material meant you could create latex legwear that, when worn, behaved much more like the stretchy nylon/Lycra fabrics used for conventional hosiery. Not only did It mould better to the anatomy when a wearer was stationary, but it was also able to retain the same power to cling under conditions of vigorous movement — just like actual skin does!

Thus began a Libidex tradition which has survived to this day, and which — under the leadership since 1998 of Helen’s original business partner Simon Rose — has seen Libidex’s reputation for latex legwear of unmatched style, quality and choice go from strength to strength. Today, Libidex offers an amazing range of latex leggings, stockings, tights, and other close-fit legwear for women and men — many of which feature Libidex’s unique tailored feet for greater comfort and a more aesthetically satisfying appearance.

It should be fairly obvious from just the four styles shown in the image above why Libidex rules the roost when it comes to the closest, sleekest profile you can achieve with latex legwear! And we offer so many detail variations! See, in the top image, how a built-in waspie, the addition of contrasting feet, heel and back-seam, or a simple contrasting crotch zip lifts the look of our Ava Corset Leggings, Ballerina Tights or Crotch-Zip Tights respectively!

Taking latex stockings beyond the earlier limitations of those traditional, plain, one-colour moulded items was something Libidex has long been committed to, and the selection above is surely evidence of our success! Even our most basic plain Stocking (centre style in image above) is fully tailored with a single back-seam and shaped foot. In thin 0.25mm latex, this Best Seller features a reinforced section at the top of the thigh that makes it wearable with or without suspenders, and we even offer a 0.40mm gauge variant for serious rubberists!

All the other stockings in the selection shown above are offered at standard prices in your choice of main colour plus second colour for your preferred trim style. Some trims are applied to the front of the stocking, as with the Hirondelle (Swallow) and Frontline with Bow styles. Others — such as the Amour, Frou-Frou, Fantasia and Bow — have contrast trims that begin under the foot and end at mid-thigh or stocking top, depending on the style chosen.

And so to the Boys — and let’s start with some Best Sellers. Two such ten-percent-off items can be viewed at the very top of this page, where we feature our tight-fitting Saddle Breeches, shown in black and white, and our Male Tights, shown in black, but with myriad other colour choices available too. We conclude this roundup of latex legwear from Libidex with a quartet of men’s one-offs (which are, don’t forget, all available to order in a wide variety of different latex hues — so black really isn’t the only colour for any of them). Our Men’s Stockings are based on the women’s style but tailored in sizes to fit male legs and feet. And again, they are available in 0.40mm gauge latex as an alternative to the standard 0.25mm for hardcore rubberists seeking a little discomfort!

We’ve included our Kingsland Capri Pants here since, while one might regard them as technically a type of trouser, they can look more at home with sportier and more leisure-orientated styles like leggings.
